Team Café Provides Vocational Training, Real-World Work Experience and Greater Independence for Adults with Special Needs
TEAM Abilities is bringing something new to the table with the opening of TEAM Café, a community café where Every Order Creates Opportunity. Located inside The Antique Gallery of Houston in Spring, the new café will provide TEAM Abilities' TEAM Members with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to gain real-world vocational experience while learning skills in food preparation, customer service, stocking, cleaning, teamwork and the everyday responsibilities of the workplace.
“I have always wanted a restaurant environment where we could train our TEAM Members who would like to work, learn new skills and enjoy a new level of independence,” said Rachel Jelks, Founder & CEO of TEAM Abilities and owner of TEAM Café. “At last, we have created the right mix of opportunity and location."

T.E.A.M. Abilities began as a dream.
Rachel Jelks, Founder and CEO,
worked as a nurse in Direct Care.
She noticed less than desirable facilities for the potential
of adults with disabilities to truly shine.
So the dream of becoming a Service Provider began.
"Today the demand for our individualized-care approach has grown and developed into TEAM Abilities. We continue to cater our care to the special gifts of each individual. We know the need for care and support is only going to grow and we are prepared to meet the demand with our robust ISS program and 16 Community Living homes". This was the dream, now realized.
As a service provider, our goal is to assist in the navigation and provision of services available for individuals with disabilities.With all the recent changes we find this need to be of great service for parents & guardians Services through HCS include: Adaptive Aids, Respite, Residential Assistance and Foster Care, Counseling and Therapy, Dental Treatment, Minor Home Modifications and Supported Employment.
We believe people with disabilities should be able to live, work and play in their community. They should be seen and welcomed. They should thrive and be given every opportunity to grow.
T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) will help individuals achieve community involvement through leadership, empowerment, support and training. We believe in bringing out the very best in our Team Members!
